2nd class have been busy in September and October. Check out our work. We have been out on Autumn hunts and walks. We gathered leaves and drew some from observation. We drew our selfies and used our Gaeilge phrase ____________ is ainm dom. In October we explored the technique of marbling and had such fun creating our spooky marbling scenes. Our flowers remind us of the rules for using capital letters. We really enjoyed the picture book The Paper Dolls. Check out our paper dolls and read our recount of the story.

Maths Week Fun

We really enjoyed Math’s Week. We created owls using 2D shapes – what shapes can you see?

We created Maths riddles about ourselves – can you solve the addition and subtraction questions to figure us out?

Maths Eyes

Second Class Sports Day

We had so much fun during active week. For our class Sports Day we all took part in : dancing, tennis, football, musical chairs, relays, a walk in the Gaels park, basketball, an assault course and more.

Crazy Hair Day 2022

We had so much fun participating in the Crazy Hair Day fundraiser. We were even inspired to create some art! The Crazy Hair Day fundraiser was held to help raise funds for two boys in Mary Queen of Angels who were recently diagnosed with leukemia.

Letters to Santa

Santa Claus is coming to town so it is time to write those letters! Second Class had so much fun writing our letters to Santa. We also learned how to write an address and put a postage stamp on an envelope. Then, we walked to the local post office and sent our letters to Santa!

Christmas

It is almost Christmas time! We have had so much fun creating lots of Christmas inspired art. We made some Christmas stockings using felt, some snowman, some elves and much more. Swipe below to find out.

Winter

Winter is here! Swipe the photos believe to see what Room 16 have been getting up to. We created some snow globes inspired by winter landscapes. We also made some adorable snowmen! Make sure you remember to wrap up warm in our mini wool hats.

Exciting Electricity

Second Class have been very busy learning all about electricity. In groups, we researched the famous inventor Thomas Edison and then presented our project to the class. We also conducted some exciting experiments. We created static electricity and then used it to make paper jump, our hair stand up and even stick balloons to the wall!

Shape Monsters

To celebrate Maths Week, Room 16 created some spooky monsters using 2D shapes!

Autumn

Second Class Room 16 have been very busy learning all about the season of autumn. We have been collecting signs of this season for our wonderful nature table. We have also been learning all about animals in autumn and why the leaves begin to change colour. You can read all about it here! You can also see our wonderful squirrels and hedgehogs. 

The girls in 2nd class have been working hard to prepare for their 1st Holy Communion. These are our actions to show everyone the important things that Jesus did at the Last Supper.

We have been learning all about the season of summer. We created some fabulous flowers using the print technique. Then, we painted some symmetrical butterflies.

Electricity:

The girls in 2nd class have been learning all about electricity and the famous inventor Thomas Edison. He created the first lightbulb!

Easter Baskets:

Happy Easter! The 2nd class girls had a great time designing our very own Easter eggs and baskets.

The Titanic:

The girls have been learning all about the famous Titanic. We painted pictures and created a timeline.

Hats:

It’s winter! That means time to wear our hats and scarves again. The girls had a great time creating these mini hats with wool.
