Yesterday scientists from Maynooth University came to our school and we were exploring cells in bananas.We took the DNA from a banana.First we took 2 small slices of banana and put it in a zip lock bag and smashed it .Then we put a salt water solution in called saline and swished it aroundand then drained the liquid from it getting rid of any lumps.Afetr that we added washing up liquid to it and this formed bubbles and then we put in ethanol which is alcohol and this separated the DNA out .We scooped it out and put it in a separate tube.Thanks to the scientists for coming we really enjoyed it .
